Can I post on an Economy Service?

ROYAL MAIL ECONOMY SERVICE UPDATE

We have had an update from Royal Mail to say they are changing the Ecconmy (Mailsort 3) service from a 66% delivery by day 4 and remainder by day 7 to the following:

“The delivery speed for Economy will be changing from 4 working days to 6 working days. The 6-day delivery span provides the opportunity to create additional efficiencies by grouping mail items to be delivered to the same mailing address on the same day. These efficiency changes will help ensure the Economy service remains the lowest cost service for customers communications when speed of delivery is not essential.

This change will apply to the following products:

• Business Mail®
• Advertising Mail®
• Sustainable® Advertising Mail
• Advertising Mail™ with Response
• Partially Addressed

The changes are effective from 4 January 2021. “

We also understand that DSA (Down Stream Access) Providers such as Citipost and Whistl will be offering a similar service alongside the existing 2-3 day service deliverability – which we expect to use on a more regualr basis. Being a little cynical this is probably trying to bring  in line pricing for DSA mailings in line with Royal Mail pricing.
